A Solemn Anniversary: 25 Years after 9/11

A Letter from our CEO

As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11th, we pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and those who continue to carry the weight of that day.

For many of us as New Yorkers, the events of September 11th carry a personal weight — they are woven into the memory of our city: the clear September sky, the shock and sorrow that followed the attack, and the way that everyday New Yorkers, first responders, and strangers came together in the face of unimaginable loss.

The events of that day changed countless lives and left an indelible mark on New York City, our country, and the world.

Today, we honor the victims whose lives were taken too soon. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the recovery workers who served with extraordinary resolve, and the survivors and families whose strength has carried them through the years since — their lives and service remind us of both the fragility of life and the strength of human compassion.

In the midst of profound grief, New Yorkers showed one another what compassion can look like: neighbors helping neighbors, strangers offering comfort, and communities standing together in moments of uncertainty and sorrow.

That enduring spirit of care and resilience remains part of the legacy of September 11th. We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

With remembrance and respect,

Kim Haight
