Canoe Camping 101
Join us for a beginner-friendly weekend canoe camping trip in the scenic Round Valley Reservoir, NJ.
Canoe Camping 101 is the perfect introduction for someone who is interested in canoe camping or who is looking for an easy, rejuvenating day on the water and a beautiful night under the stars.
This two-day overnight trip will take place in the Round Valley Recreation Area in New Jersey where we will paddle about 3 miles to a wilderness campsite along the shoreline. We will set up camp near the shoreline, hang out, relax, and enjoy a delicious camp dinner. During the course of this trip, you’ll have the opportunity to learn essential canoe camping skills and information such as what to pack, how to pack it, techniques for paddling in flat water, how to set up camp, and more!
All necessary equipment and food will be provided. Transportation is provided from our office in Beacon, NY. No experience required. This outing includes a required pre-outing meeting taking place on Monday August 3rd that will cover the trip itinerary, route, packing list, and introductions.

Blue hikes are great for beginners, people short on time, or folks with small children. Some paddling (canoeing & kayaking) adventures also fall into this category.
Participation in this event is by application only. This application closes at midnight on Sunday, June 28th, 2026.
Another Summit
Another Summit organizes and leads outdoor adventure activities — such as walking, hiking, backpacking, and paddling — in the Hudson Valley Region of New York & across the Northeast.
We welcome guardians of all ages and ability levels, including those with accessibility needs, and we work to facilitate access throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC area.
Our outdoor adventures range from beginner to advanced difficulty levels and are led by certified outdoor leaders. Another Summit’s difficulty rating system considers multiple factors, including elevation, terrain, and frequency of rests.
