Organizational Overview

Guardian Revival is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting military, veterans, first responders, and their families through trauma-informed programming, peer support, and community-based wellness initiatives. Our mission is to revive and preserve the mental health and well-being of those who serve our communities and our nation.

The Joseph P. Dwyer Vet2Vet Program of Putnam County supports veterans and their families through peer-based services that promote stability, connection, and well-being. The program is administered by Guardian Revival, a nonprofit organization serving military-connected communities at no cost to participants.

Veterans Treatment Courts (VTCs) are specialized court programs that support justice-involved veterans whose legal challenges. Using a therapeutic, team-based approach, VTCs bring together the court, probation, VA healthcare and behavioral health providers, social services, and veteran mentors to help participants remain accountable and successfully reintegrate into civilian life.

Position Summary

The Veterans Treatment Court Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Putnam County Veterans Treatment Court by recruiting, training, and coordinating veteran mentors and strengthening collaboration among court partners and community-based veteran services.

Because veteran mentors are newer participants in the treatment court environment, this role requires someone who can work collaboratively with established court and probation partners while preserving the integrity of peer-based support. The Coordinator helps ensure veterans participating in the court feel understood, supported, and connected—without crossing professional or procedural boundaries.

Why this position matters: This position helps bridge cultures — military and civilian, peer-based support and formal court systems — ensuring veterans are supported by people who understand their service and experiences while working in partnership with the systems designed to help them succeed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend Veterans Treatment Court sessions weekly (Thursday afternoons)

  • Build and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with court staff and partners

  • Conduct outreach to law enforcement, legal services, and justice-involved veterans to increase awareness of the VTC

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer Veteran Mentors, including program graduates

  • Support mentor participation in VTC Boot Camp and related training

  • Serve as a point of contact for VTC referrals

  • Coordinate connections to community-based resources for veterans and, when appropriate, their families

  • Collaborate with the Office of Court Administration (OCA) and the Veteran Justice Officer (VJO)

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support program consistency and scalability

  • Participate in weekly virtual Dwyer Team meetings

  • Collaborate with the Dwyer Team to establish performance metrics

  • Track and report performance and outreach activities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a veteran with strong interpersonal skills who can build trust across systems while maintaining clear boundaries within a court-based environment.

  • A military veteran, experience with 12-Step or recovery programs is a plus, but not required

  • Actively engaged in the military-connected community

  • Calm, respectful, and confident in professional settings

  • A strong listener who can navigate sensitive situations with discretion

  • Comfortable working within structured systems that value accountability, documentation, and outcomes

  • Able to collaborate effectively with court, probation, clinical, and community partners while maintaining the peer-support nature of the mentor role
