The One Mile Challenge returns for the fourth year, inviting participants to walk, run, or roll one mile each day in September (Suicide Awareness Month) to raise funds and awareness for military, veteran, and first responder mental health. This year’s event features the support of presenting sponsor GOVX and new participant kit options.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Guardian Revival Opens Registration for 2025 One Mile Challenge — Presented by GOVX

(Hudson Valley, NY) June 18, 2025 — Guardian Revival is proud to announce that registration is now open for the 4th Annual One Mile Challenge (OMC) — a nationwide, virtual fitness fundraiser happening in September in honor of Suicide Awareness Month. This year’s event is presented by GOVX, an organization committed to giving back to those who serve.

Whether you walk, run, or roll, the goal is simple: take on one mile a day, every day, in September. Individuals and teams will take part in a widely accessible, self-paced challenge while raising critical funds and awareness for Guardian Revival — a nonprofit dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of military, veterans, and first responders: our guardians.

Registering early allows participants to:

  • Build and grow a team in advance for maximum impact and camaraderie

  • Receive a Participant Challenge Kit (including exclusive OMC swag) to ensure you receive your OMC gear before the Challenge

  • Qualify for special incentives, including a limited-edition Yeti tumbler for the first 100 team captains who recruit 20 participants

A Virtual Challenge with Real Impact

This is a virtual event that participants take on anywhere — city sidewalks, country trails, home treadmills, or local tracks — at any time of day. The challenge is on the honor system, reinforcing intention, routine, and solidarity.

Participants may also choose to “carry weight” during their miles — symbolizing the invisible burdens our guardians often bear. This optional act of solidarity can include backpacks, sandbags, or even a child on your shoulders.

Guardian Revival: A Mission Worth Every Mile

The One Mile Challenge directly supports Guardian Revival’s life-affirming programs such as:

  • Another Summit  |  Outdoor adventures — walking, hiking, backpacking, paddling, and fly fishing

  • Boots & Paws  |  Providing dogs for the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship

  • Encore  |  Opportunities to learn, write, play, record, and share music

  • Homefront  |  Support & resources for guardian families

  • Peer Services  |  Individual & group peer support for guardians by guardians

  • Rise  |  Strength & resilience through fitness & wellness

These offerings are provided at no cost to participants and are often led by fellow guardians — creating stigma-free, peer-driven support to address trauma, isolation, and stress.

The Stats So Far

Since launching in 2022, the One Mile Challenge:

  • Grew from 469 participants to 808 in 2024, with a 2025 goal of 1,600 participants

  • 70 teams took on the challenge together in 2023 and 2024 — with a goal of 150 teams in 2025

  • Raised over $400,000 thus far to support of guardian mental health and well-being

This year, we aim to raise $200,000 through registrations and team fundraising — an amount that will make an incredible difference in the lives of guardians & their families through the programs, events, and peer support that Guardian Revival provides.

Make Every Step Count

“Every mile walked, run, or rolled this September is a reminder that our guardians are never alone,” said Aaron Leonard, Guardian Revival CEO. “Your participation helps bring healing, connection, and purpose to those who’ve served our country and communities.”
