Combining a festive race-day atmosphere with a meaningful cause, the Guardian Revival 5K in Carmel, N.Y., invites participants of all ages and abilities to come out, have fun, and show their support for the military, veterans, and first responders.

Guardian Revival’s fitness program, RISE, and Level Up Athletic Club have come together to create Guardian Strong - A community fitness event for awareness, hope, and healing, designed to benefit programs for veterans, active military, and first responders.

Guardian Revival has appointed attorney and U.S. Navy veteran Daniel Ravo as Board Secretary, joining the nonprofit’s Board of Directors to help strengthen governance, strategy, and organizational growth. Ravo, a litigator, brings a unique blend of legal expertise and lived military experience to the organization’s mission of supporting the mental health and well-being of military, veterans, first responders, and their families

Guardian Revival announced the retirement of CEO Aaron Leonard and the appointment of Kim Haight, MPA, as interim CEO, drawing on her more than a decade of nonprofit executive experience in organizational strategy, advocacy, crisis response, and cross-sector collaboration to guide the organization into its next chapter.

This year’s event is presented by GOVX, an organization committed to giving back to those who serve. Whether you walk, run, or roll, the goal is simple: take on one mile a day, every day, in September.

Guardian Revival, Putnam County, and the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Vet2Vet Program are proud to announce the official dedication of the Putnam County Guardian Dog Park, located in the Upper Park of the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park in Carmel, NY. The dedication honors military, veterans, first responders & K9 Handler Captain Max Kalkstein.

In response to the opioid crisis, Putnam officials have created a Suicide and Overdose Fatality Review Team — a multi-disciplinary group designed to conduct in-depth reviews of select local deaths in an effort to better understand and prevent future tragedies. The team’s leaders include the county’s Director of Mental Health Paul Tang, Dual Recovery Coordinator Lauren Johnson, and Director of the Child Advocacy Center Marla Behler, along with Shanna Siegel of the Putnam County Department of Health and Megan Castellano of Guardian Homefront.

Radio station 101.5 WPDH, MHA of Dutchess County and Mid-Hudson Pump presented Guardian Revival with $500 towards our programs and spoke with one of our Outreach team members (and Army veteran), Joe Hunt, about what we do to help make a difference.

Aaron Leonard replaces Alex Othmer as Chief Executive Officer at Guardian Revival. Leonard retired as Lieutenant Colonel after more than 27 years in the US Army and worked for Sierra Club Military Outdoors before leading Guardian Revival’s Another Summit program.

Our Homefront Executive Program Director, Megan Castellano, participated in a Suicide Prevention Roundtable organized by Senator Pete Harckham. “The mental health crisis in our communities is a pressing issue that requires a multi-faceted approach,” said Harckham.

The Webutuck Central School District shared photos and an update about our therapy dog visits to several district schools, providing both students & staff with the opportunity to learn more about therapy dogs as well as enjoy interacting with them.
