Mobility for Health
Mobility is about movement — specifically making sure your joints can easily move with you throughout your daily life. Think: getting up in the morning, taking a flight of stairs, picking things up off the floor — and doing it without pain or difficulty.
Why is mobility important? RISE Program Director Kevin Murphy shares:
“As a former first responder, I've found that mobility is so important in my professional life as well as my personal life. I found myself to be sedentary most of the time while I was working. Our bodies need to move and stretch in order to stay healthy and ready to respond to an emergency. Join us for mobility with MCHN Strength and improve your readiness on and off duty!”
According to Harvard Medical School: “Mobility is the foundation for living a healthy and independent life. Mobility comprises all the skills required for everyday living: physical stamina, strength, balance, coordination, and range of motion… [it] also helps us avoid falls and prevent injuries, and allows older adults to live longer on their own. In short, mobility helps you stay ‘in the game.’”
