American Military History Series

Join our monthly American Military History series. Come learn more about the Hudson Valley region & its military history.

This month's American Military History session will be led by Mitch Corrado, who will present on The Battle of Long Island (1776 CE) and The Battle of Thermopylae (480 BCE). Come learn battle stats, SIGACTs, and some of the lessons learned — and forgotten — across 2200 years of war.

Mitch Corrado graduated from Peter Stuyvesant H.S. in NYC and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a tanker with the 1st Cavalry Division and then the NY and CA National Guard for ten years. For the next fifteen years, he worked solely as a software developer for the Bell System. After September 11th, however, Mitch re-enlisted with the NJ Army National Guard as a tanker and reconnaissance scout. He has been deployed stateside with Operation Noble Eagle and twice to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is now retired from the Army and soon to be retired from his civilian position.
