Forest Ecology | Summer

Learn about New York forest ecology on this easy 2.7-mile exploratory nature walk through the scenic Ferncliff Forest Preserve just outside of Rhinebeck, NY.

On this walk we'll explore the subject of ecology, and how many native (and non-native) species of plants and animals survive and thrive in the various micro-ecosystems found in New York forests.

  • WHO: Guardians and friends/family (kids welcome)

  • WHEN: Saturday, August 23rd @ 10 AM ET

  • WHERE: Ferncliff Forest

  • DIFFICULTY: 🟦 Blue (easy)

    • Blue adventures are great for first time hikers, people short on time, or folks with small children.

  • DISTANCE: 2.7 miles

  • DURATION: 2 - 3 hours


Another Summit

Another Summit organizes and leads outdoor adventure activities β€” such as walking, hiking, backpacking, and paddling β€” in the Hudson Valley Region of New York & across the Northeast.

We welcome guardians of all ages and ability levels, including those with accessibility needs, and we work to facilitate access throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC area.

Our outdoor adventures range from beginner to advanced difficulty levels and are led by certified outdoor leaders. Another Summit’s difficulty rating system considers multiple factors, including elevation, terrain, and frequency of rests.
