First Fridays Nature Series for Veterans
Come enjoy more time outdoors! We welcome everyone, whether you’re new to nature or an avid adventurer.
Join Dwyer Vet2Vet of Putnam County and Guardian Revival’s Another Summit program for our new Putnam Nature Series — a free monthly outing designed specifically for veterans and their family members to connect, unwind, and build community.
On the 1st Friday of the month, we’ll gather at a different Putnam County park for a relaxed outdoor experience. Whether it’s a walk, a conversation by the water, or simply time together in nature, each outing is a chance to share stories, make new connections, and strengthen your sense of belonging — all while enjoying the beauty & restorative power of the outdoors.
For this kickoff event, we’ll enjoy (and provide) a 🥞 pancake breakfast followed by a 1-mile walk around tranquil Pelton Pond in Fahnestock State Park. This short loop provides year-round beauty with its population of hemlocks, mountain laurel, maples and birches that frame the perimeter of the pond. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the family of beavers that make Pelton Pond home.
*Microspikes/snowshoes will be provided in the event of snowy trail conditions. Refreshments provided by Dwyer Vet2Vet/Guardian Revival.

Another Summit
Another Summit organizes and leads outdoor adventure activities — such as walking, hiking, backpacking, and paddling — in the Hudson Valley Region of New York & across the Northeast.
We welcome guardians of all ages and ability levels, including those with accessibility needs, and we work to facilitate access throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC area.
Our outdoor adventures range from beginner to advanced difficulty levels and are led by certified outdoor leaders. Another Summit’s difficulty rating system considers multiple factors, including elevation, terrain, and frequency of rests.
