Gearing Up for Another Summit’s 2026 Adventures
Another Summit is preparing for a summer filled with canoe camping, wilderness skills, and time spent outdoors together — and we’re inviting our community to help us gear up for the season.
This year, our team has organized several beginner-friendly canoe camping adventures designed specifically for guardians (military, veterans, first responders) who may be new to wilderness trips but are eager to learn, connect, and challenge themselves with experienced outdoor leaders supporting them every step of the way.
We’ve made an Amazon Wishlist with the things we need to take guardians on meaningful, memorable adventures — will you help make it happen?

Activity Gear
Every item on our wishlist will be slept in, cooked with, or used by guardians on adventures this season. Whether you purchase a small piece of gear or make a donation, you’re helping remove barriers so more people can experience the outdoors.
Canoe-Camping Adventures in the Adirondacks & Round Valley Reservoir
Our 2026 season includes three separate 4-day, 3-night canoe camping expeditions in the Adirondack Park, along with a Canoe Camping 101 weekend at Round Valley Reservoir in New Jersey focused on foundational outdoor skills like paddling, campsite setup, gear packing, and outdoor cooking.
One of the core values of Another Summit is accessibility: participants should not need expensive technical gear or prior outdoor experience in order to join these adventures.
We provide the equipment, food, and trip leadership so that guardians don’t worry about cost, logistics, or whether they have the “right gear” and can instead focus on learning, connecting, and being present in the experience.
For many participants, these trips may be their first experience canoeing, camping, learning wilderness skills, or spending several days disconnected from the stressors of everyday life.
Research, along with what we’ve observed over years of leading outdoor adventures, shows that time in nature — particularly when combined with supportive community and structured programming — can positively influence wellbeing. That’s why Another Summit exists and why we organize the trips that we do. These opportunities aim to help guardians to feel better in the moment and beyond, with lasting impact on their sense of belonging and purpose.
Our canoe-camping trips this year are intentionally beginner-friendly (though we welcome experienced guardians too!) so that skill and knowledge are not prohibitive barriers to joining in. Participants also learn practical outdoor skills they can use on future camping trips, hiking adventures, and other wilderness experiences.
What’s On Our Wishlist: The Gear that Makes It Happen
Many items on our wishlist support one of the most important parts of every multi-day trip: the camp kitchen. Group kitchen sets make it easy for us to collectively cook and share big family-style meals together at camp. The camaraderie of the group really forms around the campfire, and nothing brings people together like preparing & enjoying a warm meal.
We also have items that make our activities possible and add some fun to the trip with birdwatching and fly-fishing.
Every item on this list was selected by our Another Summit team because it’s equipment we use repeatedly throughout the season — not just on one trip. Durable gear helps us serve more guardians, longer.
Camping + Camp Cooking
NEMO Equipment Dragonfly OSMO Ultralight Backpacking Tent
These ultralight tents are great for everything from backpacking to canoeing. They’re spacious, lightweight, and durable, making them the perfect choice for any of our multi-day adventures.
The Ace Camp Nested Pot Set
You can’t cook for a large group without a good pair of pots — we use these for everything from cooking large batches of pasta to boiling water for cleanup. Pro tip: boil up two full pots of water when you start your cooking fire so you have warm water for dishes ready to go after dinner!
Classic Camping Kettle
Coffee. Tea. Cocoa. Hot drinks are an important part of camp life.
Santoku Knife Set
Our canoe camping trips always include menus full of fresh ingredients, so having a quality knife set that’s both easy to clean and easy to pack is a necessity.
Stainless Steel “Medium Daddy” Camp Skillet
Coming in at 14 inches across, the Stainless Steel “Medium Daddy” Camp Skillet is the center of the kitchen, so we can make everything from steaks to risotto to pancakes and more!
Rome 124 Pioneer Grill
To support such a mighty pan, a sturdy grill is a necessity. The 12.5 x 24 inch Rome 124 Pioneer Grill is our grill of choice. Not only does this chrome plated steel grill do a great job providing a stable spot for our cooking equipment, but it can also be used to grill meats, and our famous traditional night 1 vegetable roast (yes, roasted radishes are amazing).
Activity Gear
Nocs Provisions 10x25 Waterproof Binoculars
Our birding walks are some of our most popular outings, and birding is a great way to connect with the natural world. The Nocs binoculars are lightweight, waterproof, and get the job done for a great price.
Birds of New York Field Guide
The NYS Bird Guide is a must-have for any birding in the Empire State. Stan Tekiela’s famous field guide makes bird identification easy to do while out enjoying nature — and he’s made a guide for birding in nearly every state. (Learn more about how to get started with birdwatching in our birding basics guide.)
Paracord
We use paracord for so many things — from tying up tarps to fieldcraft to crafting. It’s essential gear for hiking, camping, and any outdoor activity.
Fly-Fishing
We enjoy taking guardians fly fishing because it’s a rhythmic and relaxing practice that often becomes meditative while also being a fun activity. Even though we do make our own flies during our fly-tying workshops, we need plenty more for our trips:
Light Hendrickson Dun Size 12, 12 Pack Dry Fly
Bead Head Flash Back Pheasant Tail Mayfly Nymph Flies Tied on Mustad Signature Fly Hooks - 12 Flies
Sulphur Dun Dry Fly, 6-Pack
Blue Wing Olive Sulphur Dun Dry Fly, 6-Pack
Every Season Trout Assortment Dry Flies/Nymph Flies/Attractor/Wet Flies for Trout Fly Fishing Flies

If you would rather make a donation directly to us, that is much-appreciated too! You can easily donate here:
Another Summit
Another Summit is non profit Guardian Revival’s outdoor adventure activity program for military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Our outdoor adventures range from beginner to advanced difficulty levels and are led by certified outdoor leaders.
We organize outdoor adventure activities — walking, hiking, backpacking, paddling, and fly fishing. Guardians of all ages and ability levels are welcome. Our adventures are located throughout New York and the Northeast, and we organize transit-accessible adventures throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC area.
Through Another Summit, we use outdoor adventure as a way to build confidence, foster community, develop practical wilderness skills, and create opportunities for guardians to reconnect — with nature, one another, and themselves.
